THEME 

 

The essence of life. Water is the pulse of our planet, the silent rhythm that sustains all life. From the smallest droplets to the vast oceans, it nourishes, cleanses, and shapes our world in ways both profound and humble. This exhibition is a celebration of water's timeless beauty and its vital role in the balance of nature. As we explore the various forms and faces of water—its power, its tranquility, its resilience—we are reminded of its irreplaceable presence in our lives.
 

In this tribute, we invite you to reflect on the many ways water touches us all: as a source of life, a force of nature, and a symbol of purity. Through the lens of art, science, and culture, we hope to deepen our appreciation for water and inspire a renewed commitment to its protection. May this exhibition serve as a reminder of the profound connection we share with this precious resource, 

and the responsibility we bear to preserve it for future generations.

ELIGIBILITY

 

Entry to this show is open to all WCA-Texas Chapter members provided dues are up to date. Members from other chapters in the WCA are welcome to join the Texas Chapter to enter the exhibition. Non-member artists are welcome to enter without becoming a member by paying a fee for each work submitted. 

 

As part of the national organization of women artists, membership in the Texas chapter offers excellent opportunities to show artwork, network with other women artists, and gain leadership skills. Also educational workshops and book clubs at both regional and national levels.

ENTRY FEE

 

Exhibition entry is $1 for WCA Texas Chapter members to enter up to 3 submissions. Non-members are required a fee of $50 for the first submission, and an additional $25 each for up to 3 submissions. Entry acceptance is not guaranteed and fees are non-refundable.

Entrants are encouraged to become members of our chapter of National WCA. Membership benefits include free exhibitions, seminars, workshops, a great bookclub, and leadership opportunities, and networking. Membership fees are $70. ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS                

 

• We’re excited to celebrate our theme. All selections for the show must be inspired by the theme.

• Abstract works can tie to the theme by use of an appropriate title.

• Artists may enter up to 3 works.

• Works must be original and available for sale.

• There’s no limit to the size or weight of the entry.

• Mats and frames must be professional quality and in good condition.

• The frame must be securely and professionally presented.

• Artwork must be ready to hang. Please no saw tooth, keyhole, or string hangers. Only wire and D-rings will be accepted.

• Works on paper must be under glass or Plexiglas.

• For artwork that doesn’t have a title directly connecting to the theme please include an additional statement up to 25 words explaining how the artwork ties into the theme.

• The venue for this show will not accept political themes of any kind.

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

If shipping your work, you must notify Exhibition Chair Paola Núñez Solorio (paola.ns@gmail.com)

 

After notice of acceptance, drop off or ship artwork to the address above. Artwork packed in shipping peanuts will not be accepted. Shipped artwork must arrive with a prepaid return shipping label. Without these labels, the work will not be accepted. Returning artwork will be shipped via FEDEX or UPS. A member, members, and/or volunteers of the Women’s Caucus for Art - Texas Chapter will prepare and return ship the artwork. The Mexican Cultural Institute staff do not provide this service.

 

Complete and affix labels to each work. See end of this document for labels.

PRIZE

 

A $300 prize will be awarded for the best in show chosen by the Exhibition Chair Paola Núñez Solorio.

SALES

​

This venue does not take a cut! Artists receive 100% of purchase price minus any processing fees. Sales will be processed through our website shopping cart. INSURANCE AND LIABILITY  

​

Every reasonable precaution will be taken to ensure protection and careful handling of work. The Mexican Cultural Institute will insure the artworks from the point of delivery until pick-up after the show. By entering this exhibition the artist agrees to the terms listed in this prospectus.

PICK UP OR RETURN SHIPMENT OF ARTWORK  

 

Pick up date

Thursday, May 1, 2025, 9am – 4pm

 

Artwork not sold must be picked up by May 1, 2025. All artwork not picked up will be either return-shipped by the WCA-Texas Exhibition Chair, Paola Núñez Solorio, or as pre-arranged by the artist with the Exhibition Chair. Insurance coverage ends when the artwork is removed from the venue.

ENTRY PROCESS

​

Please read the full prospectus.. Complete labels as explained below. 

 

1. Include good quality photography JPGs with sharp focus, under 2MB. Label the files with name of artist and title of artwork. “LastName_Title.JPG” 

2. Pay for entry via our website TEXWCA.org. Entries will not be considered without payment being received. If you wish to pay for your entry by check, please contact Paola Núñez Solorio (paola.ns@gmail.com) before the entry deadline.

3. For artwork that doesn’t have a title directly connecting to the theme please include an additional 25 words-or-less statement explaining how the artwork ties into the theme.

 

 

LEGAL AGREEMENT

 

Please read the agreement below. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement to the terms.

 

Agreement

 

With the submission of artwork to the WCA, Texas chapter and The Mexican Cultural Institute, I agree to all terms set forth in the prospectus. If the artwork does not meet the specifics of the entry and/or theme requirements, the artwork will not be accepted. I understand these requirements and the fact that the work will be shown to the public during the venue’s open timeframes. 

 

General

• I hereby certify that my art submission contains my original artwork and is not a reproduction of any published artwork, photographs, magazines, or any other creative materials protected by copyright laws. 

• I will provide shipping information or remove my artwork in the time frame indicated in this form.

• I understand that both the Women’s Caucus for Art Texas and The Mexican Cultural Institute  are not responsible for any theft, loss, or damage to my artwork. 

• I grant exclusive rights to both the Women’s Caucus for Art Texas and The Mexican Cultural Institute to photograph my artwork for promotional purposes and to display my art without compensation to me. 

• I understand that the Women’s Caucus for Art - Texas Chapter has the right to refuse any artwork.

 

Artwork

• My artwork will be delivered and collected as indicated above on the scheduled drop-off and strike dates.

• My artwork will hang for the entire show and will not be removed prior to the strike date.
